The Disability Digest Community
Earn Money, Have Fun, and Make A Difference!

Greetings:

If you're looking for an opportunity to make a difference in many people’s lives and supplement your income, this could be the single most important web page you will read!

The Disability Digest team is building an online community similar to MySpace and Facebook. However, our Community is very different because we are dedicated to meeting the needs of those with disabilities and/or serious conditions, their loved ones, their friends, and their caretakers.

The Community is a place for members to network, share videos, audio, photos, and stories. Once you register, you get your own profile page, blog, and unlimited media uploads!

There are 54 million disabled Americans. Before the creation of the Community, we have not had any space of our own on the net.

Making the Community a truly great resource is daunting task that will best succeed if we build it together. Your help will make a real difference for many.

Frankly, I know very little about social networking communities or how this community should operate. Right now, we are especially seeking members who are experienced in the following areas to help make the Community a success:

1. Community Manager:
This person (with help) will oversee the Community’s activities, help members, help train moderators, approve of content, and run really cool contests.

2. Rule Maker
We need to create some guidelines and create a FAQ. The manager will play a major role in this.

3. Editors:
We need people who can import disability related media that is of interest and is consistent with our goals. We envision our Editors as people who can create or introduce cool, fun, and interesting videos, pictures, and audio that will draw new people to our site. We want the Community to be engaging, enjoyable, and useful. In other words, we want the Community to be fresh, fun, invigorating, and a place members see as home. At the same time, we want the Community to be inviting to new members by providing lots of room for member participation and a constant stream of fresh information.

We need Editors who can run forums such as these:

•qualifying for SSI, SSDI, children, Long Term Disability

•maximizing your benefits

•income limits and your benefits

•jobs for the disabled

•finding affordable housing

•reliable income generation ideas

•news and information on various Disability Acts

4. Business and Services:
If you have a business or a cause to promote that would add value to the Community, we want to hear from you. Some examples: other good disability related websites, ways for members to supplement their income, job tips, ideas on finding housing, health and wellness tips, and ideas on maximizing members’ benefits.

We welcome blogs on disability related topics, inspirational writing, and so on.

5. Recruiters:
If you can help get the word out, invite others from online groups, invite friends, and help members set up their profile, we would love to hear from you.

Our vision for the Community is that is that its members ultimately tailor it to their needs and run it themselves. We would like to see that those who make meaningful contributions to the Community receive some compensation, so there is a possible opportunity to make some money while making a positive contribution to many people’s lives.

If your feel you have something to contribute to my community page community page below and drop me about how your see your self contributing IE: Community Manager, Editors, Business and Services, Recruiter.

Thanks for  your interest in helping shape the The Disability Digest’s Community  and together we will make a difference!
